Psychodynamic + Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy
In working psychodynamically in psychotherapy with adults, I aim to help patients uncover their unconscious mind to understand how past experiences and unresolved conflicts shape a person's current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It's like discovering the hidden layers of the mind to gain deeper insights and make lasting changes. Importantly, familial, institutional and systemic experiences are also a part of this process. Here is a little description of the therapeutic process and how it works in the following ways:
Building Trust and Identifying Patterns: We work together to spot recurring behaviors and emotional responses in your current life.
Uncovering the Unconscious: I encourage patients to explore dreams, fantasies, and free associations to reveal thoughts and feelings that might previously been out of awareness.
Interpreting Insights and Making Changes: With these insights, patients can begin noticing and changing their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors out in the world for better well-being.
Benefits: Patients gain deep self-understanding, long-term changes in patterns, improved relationships, and better emotional resilience.
Challenges: It can be time-intensive, emotionally intense, and requires patients to be open to self-exploration.
This work is a deep, insightful process that helps patients understand the hidden parts of their mind, leading to significant and lasting changes in their lives.
