Taking the step to begin therapy is the most courageous, brave act one can take toward healing. Trusting another person with some of the most painful feelings and experiences you have gone through can be scary and intimidating. I recognize this and work to create an comforting environment . My work is highly compassionate and empathic, with a culturally sensitive approach to each individual. I approach therapy from a relational, psychodynamic, and psychoanalytic perspective. This means that our work together will begin by developing a relationship that feels safe and trusting, so we can explore how your past experiences contribute and affect your current life. Through the relationship, we will work to strengthen insight and emotional understanding of yourself. This will help increase self-esteem, improve relationships, and help you live a healthier and happier life
Our work together will begin with a curiosity of your whole life experience and through the therapeutic relationship we will explore and determine how your past experiences have contributed to your current challenges.
These may be feelings of sadness, crying or feeling angry or excessive worry. You may be feeling alone, scared, or may be experiencing loss of sleep at night. You may be using alcohol food or drugs to manage these difficult feelings. These may be ways of coping that have allowed you to survive your life experience, and these will diminish over time when they are no longer needed. Therapy is a safe and sacred space, to explore current and past traumas, to develop self-compassion, to create a deeper self-understanding, and to increase self-esteem and self-acceptance.
