“It is a joy to be hidden and a disaster not to be found” -D.W. Winnicott

Dr. Kane provides a balanced approach of recognizing the importance of long term therapeutic work while also addressing immediate barriers in order to help you implement the life skills necessary for movement forward. She is curious to learn about your unique cultural, ethnic, racial, sexual, and familial experiences and how they influence and impact your identity in everyday life. Dr. Kane works well with individuals, couples and has a unique interest in parenting.

Andrea works compassionately with survivors of sexual and emotional trauma as well as couples.

For couples, therapy can help you recognize personal pasts that come alive within the relationship. This is an important gateway to understanding each other, growth, and developing life long intimacy. She also works with couples who are in the process of separating and want to do so in a conscious and thoughtful way. Andrea is skilled in helping couples navigate the potential life-changing transition.

As a clinician and a parent, Andrea understands the psychological intricacies of the parent/child relationship while having a firm grasp on the realities faced by the modern day parent.  Dr. Kane works with parents to understand how their personal pasts come into the relationship with their child. She will help you build your capacity to reflect on your experience in order to help you hold space for the unique experience of your child.

Dr. Kane trained at the UCLA Semel Institute in the department of psychiatry in 2010, and worked as a Research Associate from 2011-2014. Andrea’s research focused on ADHD and self-control.
